Hunting Party Supplies
harry potter party?
I’m hosting a Harry Potter party, and it’s designed that the guests would be ‘students’ of Hogwarts and we hosts would be the staff. Each room in our home would be set up as a certain classroom and guests would have to attend “classes”, figuring out certain puzzles or mini scavenger hunt for potion ingredients, etc. We’d even send them out to find their school supplies and bring back digital pics of what they find. Winners with the most points of tasks completed wins.
Would like any ideas on food recipes, homemade costume ideas, decorating ideas, party favors, prizes and other games within the witch/wizard theme.

Play a game of Quidditch–
EQUIPMENT:
~1 Quaffle-a large football sized foam ball (indoors-you may try a light football or beach ball for outside)
~2 Bludgers-Tennis sized foam balls (keep as foam b/c they are used to throw at players)
~1 Golden Snitch- A very small very bouncy ball. Try getting one oddly shaped that has an unpredictable bounce.
~Some kind of goal at each end of hall or field
~Loud whistle for referee
PLAYERS:
Each team needs-
~1 Keeper- Goal keeper to save goal any way they can.
~3 Chasers- (Shooters or center forwards)CHASERS ONLY TO TOUCH QUAFFLE!
~2 Beaters- (Defenders to put off chasers) BEATERS ONLY TO TOUCH BLUEGRASS.
~1 Seeker – (a loner to catch only the golden snitch) SEEKERS ONLY TOUCH SNITCH
Object of the Game:
Basically using either a “bouncing the ball as you run” technique or a “pass it in the air like volleyball” one (depending on your hall or field and the bounciness of your Quaffle), chasers have to score goals. The Keepers have to stop them. The Beaters throw the Bludgers at the Chasers on the opposite team. If they hit a chaser then the Chaser has to sit or freeze in one spot for 3 seconds (w/out touching quaffle). This is equivilent of falling off the broom stick. It has to even work the same if chasers are hit by own teammates. The seeker waits to see when the Golden Snitch might appear and has to try to catch it. Basically, they ignore whole rest of game. When it is caught, game is won due to all points it is worth.
The Golden Snitch is thrown on intermittenly by 2 players, one each side of the feild of play. They bounce it to eachother and have it retrieved quickly before Seekers have a chance to catchit. There are no rules to how many times its thrown. It just makes brief and occasional appearances.
Scoring:
A goal scores 10 points.
If Snitch is caught it scores 150 points. This end of game.

FOOD:
BAT WINGS-
Place chicken wings in BBQ sauce and bake in 350 degree oven for 45 mins.

Appealing if you have a witch’s cauldron. Mix Green Sherbet and Sprite together.

PUMPKIN JUICE MIX-
1/2 cup reg instant tea powder
1 cup orange flavored breakfast drink powder
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
4 tsps pumpkin spice
Measure all ingredients into sm ajr or vacuum seal bag and seal.
To Use:
Mix 2-3 heaping tsp mix in 1 mug hot water. Stir well, serve hot or chill in fridge, serve w/ ice.

Disappearing ink-
-white paper
-lemon or onion juice
-q-tips
-desk lamp oil
casting spell-
dip q-tip into juoce and write your message on paper.
Let paper dry completely.
Remove lamp shade.
Carefully place paper over the hot light bulb and watch message magically appear.

Breathing Fungus Spell-
~glass bottle
~1 pkg of dried yeast
~1 teaspoon
~measuring cup
~sugar
~warm water
~large bowl
~balloon
~rubber band
cast spell-
Blow up the a few times and let air out.
Warm up the glass by pour warm water into jar and swirling it around. pour out water.
Dump the yeast in bottle.
Add 1 tsp of sugar to the bottle and swirl it around.
Cover the neck of the bottle w/ the balloon. use the rubber band to hold balloon in place over neck of bottle.
Fill large bowl w/ warm water. Stnad the balloon covered bottle in warm water.

Crystal Glass Charm-
~butter
~1 cup sugar
~food coloring
~cookie sheet
~heavy stainless steel nonstick frying pan
~wooden spoon
~oven mitts
~professor (an adult)
Butter cookie sheet and place in fridge.
Ask professor to help pour sugar into the frying pan. Place a few drops of food coloring in to the pan.
Slowly heat the sugar until it melts–this will seem like it takes forever but all good spells take time to brew. keep stirring the sides of the pan to get all sugar melted.
Sugar will mix in to clumpsand then slowly melt.
Once sugar is completely melted, with a Parent Wizards help, pour the mixture onto the chilled sheet.
Let glass cool. Then crefully remove glass from sheet, eat and enjoy!

Ask professor to light candle.
remoe metal pour spout from salt box.
Hold box about 8 inches away from the flame and point the opening toward the flame.
Thump the end of box w/ finger. You may need to change angle of box .
